SNOW CREATES HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY
At this hour (10:15 a.m. central, Thursday, February 20, 2020) snow continues to fall on the Plateau, especially in Cumberland County. Just over an inch of snow has been reported in the northwest section of the county. Here is a list of roads that are either snow covered or slick at this hour:
I-40 west and eastbound from Peavine Road in Crossville to Monterey
Highway 70 North from dirt track to Monterey
2200 block of Plateau Road
327 mile marker westbound I-40 near Crab Orchard
Genesis Road from just north of I-40 north to Old Genesis Road
Highway 127 North from just north of I-40 to near Fentress County line
Highway 60 at Cox Valley Road
Highway 70 West from Crossville to Pleasant Hill
Peavine Firetower Road
Stonehenge Drive
TRAVEL IS NOT RECOMMENDED AT THIS TIME IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY. Over 30 accidents are being worked by deputies and troopers in Cumberland County at this hour. Law enforcement says do not get out on the roads unless it is an emergency and wait until road conditions improve.
The low temperature tonight is projected at 19 degrees. Any melting that takes place this afternoon will refreeze at nightfall.
