SOCIAL MEDIA THREATS CONTINUE TARGETING SCHOOLS IN TENNESSEE
It was Cumberland County late last month, and now the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a social media threat involving East Hamilton High School.
Deputies were on the scene this morning for safety as students arrived at the school. The threat and what led up to it are under investigation. The sheriff’s office says they will release more information soon.
Cumberland County Schools and law enforcement investigated threats posted to the district’s Facebook page on Thursday, January 25, 2024, claiming a potential threat for the next day. Officials said the posts were made using a counterfeit Facebook profile with a stolen photograph of an uninvolved student. A 16-year-old in Virginia was charged with making the threats.
Law enforcement says threats of this nature will be investigated. The individual responsible for issuing the threats will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
