SOUTHERN STARS BRASS BAND DESIGNATED STATE BRASS BAND
(NASHVILLE) – Sponsored by House Speaker Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville), the General Assembly has officially designated the Southern Stars Brass Band as Tennessee’s state brass band, honoring its contributions to the arts and its role in preserving the state’s rich musical heritage.
“The Southern Stars Symphonic Brass has captivated audiences across Tennessee with its world-class performances and dedication to musical excellence,” said Speaker Sexton. “By officially designating them as the state’s brass band, we honor their talent, commitment, and impact on Tennessee’s vibrant arts culture.”
Founded in 2007 and based in Crossville, the Southern Stars Brass Band is a 30-member professional brass ensemble that has performed across the state and beyond, earning a reputation for its outstanding musicianship and commitment to musical education. The group features musicians with backgrounds in symphony orchestras, military bands, and university music programs, bringing together a diverse range of talent.
In addition to their impressive performances, the Southern Stars Brass Band actively supports music education by engaging with students, schools, and community organizations. Their dedication to fostering a love for music among young musicians aligns with Tennessee’s strong musical heritage and ensures that future generations will continue to be inspired by the power of brass music.
