SOUTHWEST AIRLINES FLIGHT FORCED TO LAND IN NASHVILLE AFTER BIRD STRIKE
A Southwest Airlines flight landed back at Nashville International Airport this morning, 24 minutes into its flight toward Phoenix. Flight 577 returned to Nashville following a reported bird strike shortly after takeoff, just after 5 a.m.
Nobody was injured during the incident itself or the subsequent landing.
Southwest Airlines issued the following statement:
“We’ve confirmed Flight 577 departing Nashville experienced a bird strike shortly after takeoff,” Southwest Airlines told Fox News in a statement. “The Captain in command safely returned the flight to [Nashville]. The aircraft will be taken out of service for maintenance review. Our local Nashville Employees are working diligently to accommodate those passengers on to their destination.”
This incident comes one day after a Dallas-bound Southwest flight made an emergency landing in Philadelphia following a jet engine failure that resulted in the death of one woman.
