SPECTACULAR 96,000-LIGHT DISPLAY BRIGHTENS FAIRFIELD GLADE

Tucked away in a quiet corner of Fairfield Glade sits an unassuming property on Bainbridge Road, over by the Lake Pomeroy spillway. That is, it’s unassuming until nightfall. Then it’s transformed into a magical, breathtaking– even stupendous – light show!

This is the third year Rich and Pat Nedabylek have decorated their property… and the display has grown exponentially each year. In 2016,they started with 25,000 lights. Last year, Rich said, he and his wife expanded their decorating to 50,000 lights. And this year they really went nuts. The display now covers more than an acre of land and encompasses some 96,000 LED lights – and about a half mile of extension cords… with some 1,500-plus connections.

This is just one small section of the spectacular light display set up each year by Rich and Pat Nedabylek of Fairfield Glade. The display has 96,000 lights and half a mile of extension cords.

Rich told 1057 News they “did away with all the conventional lights,” which really helps when the electric bill shows up in January.

So how much does the Nedabyleks’ electric bill go up, overall?

“About $75 more for the five-week-plus time,” Rich said, explaining the display began Thanksgiving night and continues until just after New Year’s.

Rich said he believes it’s the most extensive light display in Cumberland County – and he’d love for folks to come out and see it…especially the kids. “I love to see how their faces light up,” he said. “It’s just fantastic.”

The Nedabyleks will have the lights on nightly, from dark until 8:30 p.m., now through January 3. But if it’s raining, don’t bother coming out; the lights won’t be on.

To get there, follow Peavine Road a mile and a quarter past the four-way stop (near the firehouse). Turn right on Bainbridge. The display is a mile up the road. You won’t be able to miss it.
