The Roane County School Board honored three law enforcement officers. Sgt. Rick Butler for Midway, Deputy Michael Murphy for schools in Kingston and Deputy Greg Sims for Rockwood received the title of National Practitioner from the National Association of School Resource Officers (SRO).

In order to receive this honor they had to attend a 40-hour basic SRO course, a 24-hour Advanced SRO or Supervisors and Management training course, along with 160+ hours of specialized law enforcement training. Additionally, they had to attend a Nation Conference to obtain this title.
