STARTING JANUARY 1st, GROCERIES CAN SELL WINE ON SUNDAY

The new year is bringing with it a set of new laws and one of those laws will impact when and where you can buy wine. Beginning on Jan. 1, 2019, you will be able to buy wine in a grocery store on Sundays. Wine sales in such stores have been prohibited on Sundays since the law to sell wine in grocery stores went into effect two years ago. Many liquor store owners think it’s the wrong move, but back in April, Gov. Bill Haslam approved liquor stores to stay open on Sundays between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m., and for grocery stores to sell wine during that same time on Sundays come January 1.
