STATE COMPTROLLER INVESTIGATES FORMER HARRIMAN POLICE CHIEF HEIDLE
The Office of the Comptroller of the Treasury has released results of an investigation into allegations against the former Harriman police chief that he used city property and city employees for his own personal use. The investigation uncovered the fact that on-duty officers were often asked to run personal errands for then-chief Randy Heidle, many times using police dept. vehicles for the tasks. Heidle is also accused of utilizing city equipment in his own personal vehicle. An additional deficiency was found where “city officials failed to implement a method by which employees could report waste and abuse without fear of retaliation.” That has since been corrected. Heidle resigned shortly after being placed on leave when the investigation began.
