STATE COMPTROLLER SAYS ALL 95 COUNTIES “ON TIME” WITH ANNUAL BUDGETS
The Tennessee State Comptroller says that all 95 counties in the state completed their budgets by the August 31st deadline. Cumberland and Roane Counties had both of their budgets prepared and passed before the end of July. In 2015, the Tennessee General Assembly approved a measure forcing counties to complete their budgets by August 31. Before that time, it was not unusual for some Tennessee counties to operate without a current budget into October.
