STATE EVALUATES CUMBERLAND COUNTY SCHOOLS ON A TO F SCALE
The Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) today released letter grades for each public school in the state.
The TDOE was required to establish a letter-grading system for public schools after it was approved by state legislation in 2016. The implementation of an individual grade for each school was delayed a few years, thanks to testing administration challenges and the impact of COVID-19.
Officials say the grades are meant to provide a “snapshot” of how a specific public school is performing.
The grade includes four separate indicators—achievement, growth, a subgroup of the lowest performing 25%, and college and career readiness—with varying weights for elementary, middle, and high school students.
The grades for schools in Cumberland County are as follows:
Cumberland County High School – C
Stone Memorial High School – B
Martin Elementary – B
South Elementary – B
North Elementary – C
Stone Elementary – D
Pine View Elementary – D
Crab Orchard Elementary – B
Homestead Elementary – B
Brown Elementary – A
Pleasant Hill Elementary – C
