STATE ROUTE 68 IN RHEA COUNTY DOWN TO ONE LANE AFTER FLOOD DAMAGE

State Route 68/Wassom Memorial Highway between Grandview and Spring City has been affected from flooding.

The Rhea County Sheriff’s Department has been notified several cracks formed in the roadway after the recent heavy rains. The sheriff’s department checked the roadway and immediately notified the Tennessee Department of Transportation. TDOT employees arrived and began assessing the road’s condition.

TDOT crews reduced State Route 68/Wassom Memorial Highway to one lane between Bill Cox Lane and Garland Lane.

Temporary traffic lights have been set up and message boards warning motorists to be prepared to stop have been placed at the top of Grandview Mountain and near Industrial Park Blvd. Traffic in the area will be down to one lane, controlled by traffic signals, until further notice. The speed limit there has been reduced to 20 miles per hour.

Motorists are urged to use caution and be prepared to stop.
