STEVENS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY FOLLOWING BRIEF HIGH SPEED CHASE ON I-40
A brief high speed pursuit Friday in eastern Cumberland County ended with an arrest. Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Stern Able Stevens of Wartburg on Airport Road near I-40 for a wrong tag displayed. Stevens got on the interstate heading west at speeds over 100 miles per hour. He got off at the Westel exit, pulled into the parking lot of a convenience store and was taken into custody. A search allegedly revealed a backpack containing drug items. Stevens was charged with felony manufacture and delivery of meth, driving on a suspended license and evading arrest.
