STOLEN VEHICLE AND SUSPECT CAUGHT IN ROANE COUNTY
A Knoxville man has been charged with theft of a vehicle by the Roane County Sheriff’s Dept. Deputies were dispatched Friday to the Best Roofing business on West Buttermilk Rd. for the report of a man and woman throwing cloths and other objects out of a white KIA Soul. Contact was made with Sandra Samuel and Jacob Varner who looked to be cleaning out the vehicle. A registration check revealed the vehicle had been stolen two days earlier in Knoxville. Samuel told deputies that they were homeless and staying at K.A.R.N. and that a woman had loaned Varner the vehicle after he paid her $30 or so. Varner said that he got the vehicle from a male friend for a small amount of money. While both were detained, several syringes were confiscated at the time, along with spoons, a tourniquet, empty baggies, and a lighter. Varner told officers that Samuels had nothing to do with the stolen vehicle. She was released while Varner was taken into custody.
