STOLEN VEHICLE DISCOVERY LEADS TO DRUG ARREST

Law enforcement in Cumberland County pulled over a Ford Focus yesterday afternoon at the 317 mile marker of I-40 after a check revealed the vehicle was stolen in Rhea County.

They identified the driver and a passenger, 26-year-old Cody Lee Boles of Rockwood. A consent search reportedly revealed a clear small bag containing a white substance that fell out of a pack of cigarettes. Boles told authorities he took it from someone and he believed it to be cocaine.

During the traffic stop, Rhea County authorities notified officers on scene they were not going to prosecute either in the vehicle because of them not being suspects in the theft case. The driver was then transported to a nearby gas station to be picked up to go home.

Boles was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and taken to the jail in Crossville. His bond was initially set at $3,000.
