STONE MEMORIAL SENIOR DIES IN I-40 CRASH

A Cumberland County teen was killed in a multiple-vehicle crash on I-40 Monday afternoon.  Ian Honcoop, 17, was traveling I-40 East when a vehicle stopped suddenly to cross over from eastbound to westbound I-40 which caused a lock-up of other vehicles on the interstate. Ian crashed into a semi-truck due to the lock-up and was killed instantly. Ian was a senior at Stone Memorial High School. An investigation is ongoing by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Ian’s mother posted this on Facebook: “Don’t be that person who thinks that an emergency (crossover) lane is for their use. My family lost part of its heart tonight due to the entitled thinking of one person.”

A GoFund page has been set up to help Ian’s family during this difficult time. https://www.gofundme.com/f/ian-honcoop?sharetype=teams&member=22164533&pc=fb_co_campmgmt_w&rcid=r01-166368222529-1c562d0638ec11ed&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=p_lico%2Bshare-sheet&fbclid=IwAR3IWBzTcySUezaTAX2zUIOqYz4Qu0knN6hvW9MA-bBOc-7uxzKJyqqUcH0

Any funds collected will be used toward the high cost of funeral expenses. In addition, funds collected above what the family needs at this time will be used to honor Ian Honcoop toward a cause and foundation dear to Ian and the Honcoop Family.
