STORM DAMAGE IN ROANE COUNTY EXCEEDS $3 MILLION

Roane County Road Superintendent Dennis Ferguson said Wednesday county roads have sustained at least $3 million in damage due to last weekend’s heavy rain and the resulting flooding. Ferguson said he has called the mayor, county commissioners and other county leaders to invite them to tour and assess the damage with him tomorrow.

Storm damage in the county, including to businesses and homes, has already been estimated as high as $4 million, although final tallies won’t be known until all of the water recedes and further damage assessments can be carried out.

The state of Tennessee has been deemed a disaster in many areas, including Roane County, making it eligible for state and federal disaster-relief funding for repairs and cleanup.

If your property has suffered damage from the rains and flooding, contact the county executive’s office in Kingston at (865) 376-5578.
