STOUT ARRESTED AFTER ATTEMPTING TO RUN OVER PUTNAM COUNTY SHERIFF OFFICERS

On Tuesday, November 09, 2021, at approximately 11:00 AM, multiple units responded to the Buffalo Valley Road area after a suspect attempted to run over PCSO deputies.  Sergeant Josh Reams was attempting to serve an outstanding warrant on the Mason Tyler Stout at 2155 Wildwood Road when the suspect attempted to run over Deputy Keith Maynard with his vehicle. Sergeant Reams fired his service weapon at the suspect while the suspect attempted to run over Deputy Maynard. While multiple units responded to the area, the suspect drove and hit Lieutenant Richard Cobble’s patrol vehicle head on, before exiting his vehicle and fleeing on foot.
Additional resources were needed to search for the suspect, including the PCSO Air Unit, K9 Unit, Cookeville Police Department, and Tennessee Highway Patrol.
During the search, it was also discovered that the suspect stole a side-by-side ATV from a local resident, attempted to drive away in it only to get it stuck in a ditch and continue his attempted escape on foot.
After a couple hours of extensive searching, Sergeant Devin Brown’s K9 Lucas and Sergeant Matt Scott’s K9 Maggie were able to track and locate the suspect in a sinkhole/drainage area between Holiday Road, Apple Valley Court, and Buffalo Valley Road where the suspect was apprehended.  Mason Tyler Stout, age 21 of Cookeville, was arrested.
Sheriff Eddie Farris stated, “Once again, the good guys won. I am extremely proud of all our deputies involved, for their professionalism and their discipline in carrying out this search. We’re going to keep this community safe and we’re not going to let this sort of criminal activity take place without repercussion.”
Stout has an extensive criminal history in Putnam County including charges on domestic violence, theft, driving under the influence, simple possession and was most recently released from the Putnam County Jail in June 2021.
