STRIKING SUBJECT WITH VEHICLE GETS STOKES INCARCERATION SENTENCE

Court officials say 56-year-old Susan Denise Stokes of Cumberland County entered a plea of guilty to reckless aggravated assault. She received two years as a range one offender to be served at 30 percent. She originally faced aggravated assault, evading arrest and resisting arrest. Stokes is also banned from any contact with the victim.

The incident took place on the 1,000 block of Natchez Trace in Lake Tansi in August 2020. A domestic altercation resulted in Stokes striking the male with a Dodge Dart then fled the scene. The victim was bleeding from his arms and legs but initially refused medical treatment. Officers stopped Stokes several minutes later at the corner of Highway 70 East and Peavine Road.

This was not her first encounter with law enforcement.

In November 2019, Stokes was arrested after reportedly stabbing a male with a steak knife at a home on Apache Trail in Lake Tansi.

In June 2019, Stokes was involved in a standoff with law enforcement in Cumberland County reportedly armed with a knife.
