STUDENT ATTENDING TENNESSEE COLLEGE OF APPLIED TECHNOLOGY IN CROSSVILLE TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

A student has tested positive for COVID-19 at Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Crossville.

Cliff Wightman, President of Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Crossville issued the following statement last night:

“First, thank you all for being proactive in distancing, wearing the mask and the other safety measures we are taking to help curtail the spread of COVID-19. These are definitely different times and we should all be prepared to adapt without overreacting.

That said we have had a student in one of our programs that has tested positive for COVID-19. We are certain that the student did not catch the virus on campus. The student was only on the campus approximately one hour and had a minimal contact here. As a precaution we are having everyone that could have been in contact with this person on the campus tested and quarantined until results come back. All of these people had mask and gloves on so we expect negative test results. The student’s class will also go back online until all testing returns negative.

In the meantime this should be an awakening that we all need to practice the precautionary measures that we currently have in place. I cannot say that this will be the last time this happens on the campus until we are past this pandemic. But I can assure you we will be proactive in the event it does.

We will get through this. Wear your mask, keep your distance, wash your hands and be conscious of the times we are in. We can all do this and still enjoy the comradery and fun that comes with getting a great education here at TCAT Crossville.

Thank you,

Cliff Wightman

President TCAT Crossville”
