STUDENTS EVACUATED FROM MIDWAY ELEMENTARY CLASSROOM AFTER SMOKE ENTERS ROOM

Roane County firefighters responded to Midway Elementary School this morning for smoke coming into a 3rd grade computer lab. Crews arrived to find a heat and air unit malfunctioned sending smoke into the classroom. Midway Elementary School Principal Tim Thompson told 105.7 News that the students were immediately evacuated and there were no injuries reported. As a precaution, students were kept out of the classrooms while fire crews and Roane County school maintenance workers inspected the facility. After the smoke was cleared and the all clear was given, students returned to the classrooms an hour later.
