A major convenience store chain will open a new location in Cumberland County sometime in 2023.

Buc-ee’s General Counsel Jeff Nadalo confirmed to 105.7 News today property has been bought in Crossville between I-40 and Interstate Drive on Genesis Road. It will span from Genesis Road west to just before the VF Outlet.

“We are looking to have the store operational in three years,” said Nadalo. “We will start off by hiring at least 175 for this store. Most of the stores range around 200 employees.”

Buc-ee’s is based in Texas and is known for its very large-format stores and clean restrooms. Their logo depicts a beaver.

Buc-ee’s offers products found at most convenience stores such as fuel, cigarettes, tobacco, chips, drinks, and soft drinks at their smaller neighborhood stores. Travel centers include a deli, coffee shop, exterior tunnel car washes, Texas-themed specialty gifts and food, and products catering to hunters and river rafters. All Buc-ee’s are open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.

The size of Buc-ee’s alone is incredible. Over 100 gas pumps will be offered to motorists in regular vehicles up to tractor-trailers. Officials say walking into Buc-ee’s is like going into a mix of a Walmart, a barbecue-centric deli, and tourism bureau, plus a dash of the Cracker Barrel general store.

Buc-ee’s has some of the best worker compensation in the industry. Every location proudly displays signs disclosing employees’ pay and benefits. The pay is well above minimum wage and comes with benefits such as full health care, 401K and paid time off.

Pay for a cashier or gift associate is between $13 to $15 an hour, food service, maintenance or car wash attendants is $14 to $16 an hour, team leaders ranges from $15 to $18 an hour and assistant managers is $18 and up.
