East Wheeler Street in Rockwood was closed for over an hour this morning, around 10:30 a.m., because a vehicle flipped over near the intersection of Skyline Drive. Rockwood fire department responded quickly and had to extricate the two individuals from the vehicle, who were identified only as husband and wife, who live on Church Street.

According to the police department on the scene, the two were responsive and appeared to not have serious injuries, however, they were taken to the hospital for evaluation. The fire dept. had to use the jaws of life to cut the top off from the SUV to free the two.

According to police on the scene, both were wearing seatbelts and the female driver was heading westbound on Wheeler Street not far from the couple’s home when the Kia ran off the roadway and struck a culvert, resulting in the vehicle flipping onto its side.
