TDOT Employee Hit On Interstate 40

HERMITAGE, Tenn. – An employee with the Tennessee Department of Transportation has been hit by a vehicle on Interstate 40.  The crash happened around 7:06 p.m. Saturday in the westbound lanes of the interstate near Exit 221 for Old Hickory Boulevard.

Officials said the worker was helping a family change their flat tire when the wreck took place.  The employee was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in serious condition.  The identities of those involved had not been released. Officials said the investigation remained ongoing.
