TDOT is set to start making improvements to a dangerous part of I-40 near the Cumberland/Roane County line within the next 30 days. This area, known as the curve before going down the mountain, averages three rollover tractor-trailer crashes per year. The upcoming project will re-engineer the road by working on curves and shoulders, as well as adding enhanced striping and additional signage. No word on how long the project will take.
