TDOT will begin making improvements soon to a dangerous part of I-40 near the Cumberland/Roane County line. The announcement comes after tractor-trailers collided at the 342 mile marker yesterday. This area around Rockwood Mountain averages three rollover truck crashes per year. The upcoming project will re-engineer the road by working on curves and shoulders, as well as adding enhanced striping and additional signage. Work should begin within the next 2 to 3 months. No word yet on how long the project will take.
