The Tennessee Department of Transportation is planning in the future to replace not one but two bridges on major roads inside the city limits of Crossville.

The first is the bridge over Obed River on Highway 70 North near the entrance to the park.

The second is the one over the same river but on Sparta Highway near the wastewater treatment plant just west of Highland Square Shopping Center.

The Crossville City Council will review these initial plans during their work session this Tuesday (April 6, 2021). A letter sent by TDOT’s project specialist supervisor to the city indicates the two projects cannot be done at the same time. The contractor will be expected to give the city a two week notice of the closure for the rebuilding.

Detour routes will be utilized for both projects and will be announced when the start date gets closer. A timeframe of the project was not available.
