The Tennessee Dept. of Transportation is helping out Christmas and New Year’s holiday travelers by putting a halt to all lane closure activity on interstates and state highways. The announcement is in anticipation of high volumes of traffic for the period. TDOT will halt the activity beginning at 8 PM on Friday, Dec. 22 through Tues. Jan. 2, 2018 at 6 AM. Workers may still be on-site in some construction zones. Drivers should obey all posted speed limits, particularly in construction areas. Drivers convicted of speeding through work zones where workers are present face a fine of $250 to $500, plus court fees and possible increased insurance premiums.
