TDOT TO SUSPEND ROAD CONSTRUCTION DURING MEMORIAL DAY TRAVEL PERIOD
The Tennessee Dept. of Transportation has announced that it will be suspending all construction on state roads for this Memorial Holiday Weekend. According to TDOT Commissioner John Schroer, nearly 700,000 drivers are expected to be hitting the roads during this period. All construction will be suspended from Friday at 12 Noon until 6 AM Tuesday, May 30. Motorists may still encounter some lane closures or restrictions while traveling through long term construction projects. Drivers should be aware that reduced speed limits will be in effect in work zones. Drivers convicted of speeding through work zones where workers are present face a fine of up to $500, plus court fees and possible increased insurance premiums.
