TEEN DRIVER ARRESTED FOR DUI AFTER FLIPPING CAR IN CROSSVILLE CRASH
On May 3, 2026, at approximately 0023 hours, officers responded to a single-vehicle accident at Genesis Road in Crossville, TN. A black Ford Fusion was found on its side after leaving the roadway onto Speedway property. The driver, Aiden Mepham, was standing nearby. Multiple empty 12-ounce Coors beer cans were observed on the ground, along with a Miller Lite can outside the shattered windshield that still had condensation.
Officer Jacob Ogle noted that Mepham had difficulty recalling the crash, bloodshot eyes, and a strong odor of alcohol. After being read his Miranda rights, Mepham admitted to drinking. He consented to standardized field sobriety tests. During the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, officers observed lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees. On the Walk-and-Turn test, he lost balance, failed to count steps properly, stopped after nine steps, and could not maintain heel-to-toe contact. On the One-Leg Stand test, he failed to count aloud, struggled with positioning, and lost balance.
Mepham was arrested for DUI and transported to Cumberland County Jail. A blood search warrant was obtained and executed at Cumberland Medical Center, where two vials of whole blood were drawn. The blood was placed into evidence. Warrants were also issued for driving under the influence and underage consumption. The time from the officer’s arrival on scene to the blood draw was one hour and twenty-two minutes.
