TEENAGER PASSES AWAY IN SEQUATCHIE COUNTY ATV ACCIDENT

An ATV accident in Sequatchie County yesterday resulted in the death of a teenager. Officers say 15-year-old Jordan Layne was involved in the accident on Harvey Cemetery Road on Lewis Chapel Mountain. Troopers say Layne was traveling north on Harvey Cemetery Road when he lost control of his 2006 Honda Foreman and exited the road to the left. Layne attempted to get the vehicle back onto the pavement, but over-corrected and rolled the ATV. He was ejected from the ATV and landed on the pavement, where he suffered blunt-force trauma to the head. Troopers say Layne was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
