TENNESSEE AWARDS FUNDING TO AREA SCHOOLS TO HELP PRE-K AT RISK STUDENTS

Tennessee Education Commissioner Candice McQueen announced today (Tuesday, May 30, 2017) that 18,340 students in 917 classrooms across the state will benefit from the Voluntary Pre-K (VPK) program in the 2017-18 school year. Nearly 95 percent of districts in Tennessee will receive VPK funding designed to serve 4-year-olds who are at-risk. McMinn County – 19 classrooms between three schools – $1,856,036
Cumberland County – 12 classrooms – $1,078,098
Loudon County – 11 classrooms – near $990,000
Roane County – 7 classrooms – $642,593
Fentress County – 6 classrooms – $597,279
Morgan County – 6 classrooms – $645,549
Rhea County – 5 classrooms between two schools – $401,240
Blesdoe County – 4 classrooms – $433,692
Meigs County – 4 classrooms – $415,240
