Early voting across Tennessee officially opens on Friday, July 17, as voters prepare to cast their ballots for the upcoming August 6 Federal and State Primary, County General, and municipal elections.

While several local races in Cumberland, Roane and surrounding counties were largely determined during May’s Republican primary—leaving a few candidates unopposed—voters still face pivotal choices on the upcoming ballot, including several local seats on County commissions and city councils.

Highlighting the ballot is a high-profile, three-way contest for the Republican nomination for Governor of Tennessee. Candidates include Roane County resident Monty Fritz, U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn, and Congressman John Rose. The winner of this primary will advance to the November General Election to face the Democratic nominee.
