TENNESSEE HIGHWAY PATROL RELEASES OFFICIAL REPORT FROM INCIDENT THAT INJURED DEPUTY ILES

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has released its official report regarding yesterday’s incident in Cumberland County, in which 51-year-old Deputy Scott Iles of Crossville was run over.

Iles was directing traffic at the North Cumberland Elementary School zone. At 3:12 p.m., 87-year-old Patrick Henry Hicks III of Monterey, traveling south on U.S. Highway 127, ran over Iles with his 2014 Ford Focus. Iles hit the windshield and landed approximately 50 feet in front of Hicks’ vehicle in the southbound lane.

Iles was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, from which he has since been released. He is recovering at home.

Hicks, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was uninjured. Charges may be pending.
