Tennessee Highway Patrol authorities have released preliminary information regarding yesterday’s tractor-trailer that snarled traffic on I-40 eastbound for hours. THP says 32-year-old Shuaib A. Yussuf of Potter, Texas, was traveling eastbound in a 2015 Volvo semi truck near mile marker 342 when he lost control of the rig approximately 2:20 p.m. Central Time. The tractor traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck and overrode a guard rail. Yussuf overcompensated in an attempt to regain control and both the tractor and trailer overturned onto the right side, blocking both lanes of travel. Yussuf, who was wearing a seatbelt, was charged with failure to maintain a lane of travel and failure to exercise due care.
