TENNESSEE LAUNCHES “NO NEED TO SPEED ON 25E AND HWY 33” CAMPAIGN NEXT WEEK
On Monday, May 18, 2026, at 11 a.m. ET, the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) and Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), in partnership with the Tazewell and New Tazewell Police Departments, will hold a press event at the Tazewell Police Department to launch the “No Need to Speed on 25E and Hwy 33” campaign.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of a multijurisdictional DUI checkpoint scheduled for Friday, May 22, from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. in Tazewell, along with increased traffic enforcement along State Highway 25E and Hwy 33 from May 22–24. This enforcement period will cover the full route from the Tennessee/Kentucky state line to Knoxville and will involve THP’s first and fifth districts as well as local law enforcement agencies along the corridor.
Speakers at the event will include Armando Fontes (THSO Law Enforcement Liaison), Tennessee Highway Patrol representatives, Tazewell Police Chief Jeremy Myers, and New Tazewell Police Chief Gary Ruzkoski.
