TENNESSEE RESPONDS TO DEADLY NEW YORK ATTACK

Officials with the Tennessee Department of Safety responded to a deadly attack in New York City. A total of eight people were killed and more than a dozen were injured when a truck drove through a bike path in Lower Manhattan.

Commissioner David W. Purkey with the Tennessee Dept. of Safety and Homeland Security released the following statement:

“We are deeply disturbed upon learning the news of the tragedy in New York City this afternoon. There is no place for this type of violence in our society. We are proud of the first responders who took the suspect into custody. Justice will prevail. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families during this difficult time. We’re working information constantly here in Tennessee to interrupt the possibility of further attacks like the one in Chattanooga in 2015.”
