TENNESSEE’S AG WANTS EXTENDED DEADLINE ON FREE CREDIT MONITORING FROM EQUIFAX
The Attorney General of Tennessee has requested that hacked credit report company Equifax, extend a deadline for free credit monitoring given to those who were involved in the cyber-crime. AG Herbert Slatery says that over 3 million Tennessean’s credit accounts were breached when hackers infiltrated the company’s data banks. Slatery’s request follows along the lines of requests made from 44 other attorneys general expressing their concern in the incident. In his letter to Equifax, Slatery says that the free credit monitoring services should be extended past the Nov. 21st deadline, and that customer fees should be reimbursed for freezing reports and from other credit reporting agencies. He also requested that the company send him copies of any notices on scam-related incidents.
