THEFT REPORTED FROM HOME ON MAYLAND ROAD

Cumberland County deputies responded Friday afternoon to a theft from a property on the 800 block of Mayland Road. The homeowner said she returned from a business trip to find the back door to her home forced open, her bedroom closet rummaged through and several items taken. Additionally, her cable cord had been cut and the electric meter ripped from the side of her home.

A safe containing passports, currency and various papers was stolen, as were several items of jewelry, and a flat-screen TV. An investigator took the electric meter to attempt to lift fingerprints, which might not be possible, given the adverse weather conditions that afternoon.

There are no suspects at this time, but an investigation is underway.
