THIRD SUBJECT ARRESTED FOR CHILD SEX CRIMES AT HOME ON SWAN POND ROAD IN HARRIMAN

Authorities say a third suspect has been arrested since May on child sex crimes at a residence in Roane County. Deputies took 51-year-old Joanna McCann Matheson into custody Monday for sexual child abuse. She was taken to jail and initially placed under $25,000 bond. Her first court appearance is set for August 11, 2020.

The warrant obtained by 105.7 News states Matheson stands accused of exposing the minor between the ages of 9 and 10 to sexual abuse and failed to protect her from members of the family.

This makes the third member of the family to be arrested in the same home.

Officers say 28-year-old Bryon Cody Copeland of Harriman was arrested last month for sexual child abuse. The warrant reads between August 2018 and November 2019, Copeland took part in numerous sexual acts with the child as well as took pictures of the minors private part. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance July 21, 2020 in Roane County General Sessions Court.

The third subject arrested at the residence on the 2400 block of Swan Pond Road in May was 57-year-old Clarence Cook for sexual child abuse.

The victim was the same girl in all the incidents.
