THP JOINS WITH THSO IN URGING SUPER BOWL FANS TO HAVE A DESIGNATED DRIVER

This weekend, the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) and the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) are pooling their resources and urging Super Bowl fans to have a designated driver if they plan on partying away from home. According to the Tennessee’s Integrated Traffic Analysis Network, there were 71 crashes and four fatalities statewide related to alcohol-impaired driving during Super Bowl weekend last year. In 2016, there were 67 crashes and two fatalities. THP Colonel Tracy Trott said, “Drunk driving is not a game. If you fumble and get behind the wheel, you risk losing your life or the life of another. Be a team player. Always find a sober ride home.”

The Crossville Police Department, along with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office, will be conducting sobriety checkpoints February 4, 2018 starting at 6 PM and continuing to 10 PM. The checkpoints will be held in the areas of Lantana Road, Peavine Road and U.S. Highway 127 North and South in an effort to put an end to impaired driving.
