THP RELEASES DETAILS OF FATAL INTERSTATE 40 CRASH IN CRAB ORCHARD

An accident on Interstate 40 west in Cumberland County at the 327 mile marker around 3:30 Thursday afternoon claimed the life of 62 year old Richard A. Copeland of Crossville.  According to THP reports, Copeland was driving a 2004 international truck pulling a trailer with a bobcat when he veered off the roadway to the right, went down an embankment, struck several trees and his truck caught fire as it came to rest in the trees. According to troopers, the driver was deceased upon the arrival of patrol units. It is unknown if the driver was wearing a seat belt because of the severity of the burnt vehicle.

Funeral Services for Richard Allen Copeland, age 62, will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Bilbrey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Linary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Bilbrey Funeral Home. Survivors: Son- Brandon (Jen) Copeland; Grandsons – Payton Copeland, T.J. Copeland & Gaven Copeland; Mother – Burxie Copeland; Brothers – David Copeland & Tim Copeland; Sister – Vickie Houston; Step-Sister – Terri Sitton; and Special Friend – Jeanette Wright.
