THREE APPREHENDED IN MORNING HIGH-SPEED CHASE IN CUMBERLAND & ROANE COUNTIES

Three people are in jail in Cumberland County after a high-speed pursuit was carried out in the early morning hours Wednesday. According to reports, the Tennessee Highway Patrol began the pursuit of a Dodge Charger on I-40 around between 4-4:30 AM. The Charger left the interstate at Highway 127 North at speeds estimated to be around 100 mph, traveled into Crossville, turned around at the Main Street Dairy Queen, and then headed back out of the city, down Main St. towards the interstate. The Charger, being pursued by Crossville Police, Cumberland County Deputies and THP, and then turned eastbound back on to I-40 traveling into Roane County. A Rockwood Police Officer just coming onto duty was able to deploy spike strips at mile marker 347 and the vehicle wrecked near the McDonald’s at the Harriman Exit. The three occupants, who have only been identified as being from North Carolina, then fled on foot into the woods and were apprehended within 15 minutes.
