Also, on Friday last week, Crossville police units were dealing with a motor vehicle accident on East 1st Street and Peavine Road when a civilian alerted City units that a man was passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in the Zip’s parking lot.
Officer Samantha Seay broke off from assisting the accident and made contact with the man, who was in the driver seat of a gray Honda Accord. The man was identified as Porter Horsley and is described in the report as having a strong odor of alcohol as well as watery and bloodshot eyes.
He agreed to perform Field sobriety tests but would fail them.
He was deemed intoxicated and unable to operate a motor vehicle and was handcuffed and transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center for booking. He would be charged with driving under the influence.
On Monday, officer Haylee Osmun responded to the intersection of Main Street and Genesis Road for a vehicular accident at around 11:15. A.M. Upon arriving, she saw a white Ford van and a red SUV parked in the middle of Main Street inside of a construction zone. And underneath the van were orange traffic cones that were supposed to block off Main Street due to TDOT working on the curbs and sidewalks.
The driver, Travis Beemer, is described in the report as very slow to speak or answer any questions. He was easily confused when asked for a copy of his insurance and didn’t know why the officer was asking for it.
He would fail field sobriety tests, as well as a preliminary breath test, which he failed. He was placed into custody and transported to Cumberland County jail for booking where he was charged with driving under the influence as well as reckless endangerment.
