A single vehicle accident yesterday (Sunday, November 5, 2017) in Van Buren County, Tennessee killed three and injured four people from Wayne County, Kentucky. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer driven by Josefa Mateo Gomez of Monticello, Kentucky was traveling north on Highway 111 when he lost control and crossed the median. The vehicle rolled four times and came to rest on its top in the southbound emergency lane. One person was trapped in the wreckage and six were ejected. The driver, along with 18-year-old Emily Mateo and a male child, were all killed in the accident. Officers say 34-year-old Gaspar Gomez, 19-year-old Lesley Francisco Mateo, and a 17 and a 14-year-old male were all flown by air medical helicopters to area trauma centers for treatment of significant injuries.
