THREE FROM McMINN COUNTY CHARGED WITH MURDER

Three individuals from McMinn County are now charged with the murder of a Polk County man. Officers say the shooting happened at a home on the 9800 block of Highway 411 in Polk County. Authorities say the three came to a residence to negotiate a transaction of property when a fight started. Officers say one of the three pulled out a firearm and started shooting. Timothy Maklain Lawson from Bradley County was shot and killed. Charles D. Buffkin of Polk County was also shot and is recovering. Two of the three suspects arrested are juveniles. Both are charged with felony murder and especially aggravated robbery. Deputies also arrested 18-year-old Robert Jerome Benton of Athens, Tennessee and charged him with felony murder and especially aggravated robbery. Benton was arrested in Loudon County just four months ago for a string of vehicle burglaries.
