THREE INJURED IN MONDAY MID-AFTERNOON CRASH ON U.S. HIGHWAY 127 NORTH

We now have the police report for the crash Monday afternoon on U.S. Highway 127 North that left three people injured.

Five vehicles were stopped at the red light at Executive Drive when a Ford Ranger driven by 83-year-old Richard Jenson of Monterey approached at a high rate of speed and did not slow before striking the right-rear side of a Dodge Neon driven by 38-year-old Bambi N. Lee of Xenia, Ohio. The impact sent Lee’s car off course and into the back of a Toyota Sienna driven by 59-year-old Darlene Barnwell of Crossville. On impact, the rear of Lee’s vehicle lifted into the air and turned, landing against a Pontiac sedan driven by 46-year-old Rodney D. Van Natter of Crossville. Meanwhile, Barnwell’s vehicle rolled forward and struck the Chevy Silverado driven by 70-year-old Denell Baltimore of Crossville. Debris from the crash struck the rear passenger side of a Toyota Tacoma driven by 54-year-old Carol D. Townley of Deer Lodge, Tennessee, leaving scratch marks near the bumper.

Police determined Jenson was apparently fatigued at the time of the crash. He was taken by ambulance to Cumberland Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

A passenger in Lee’s vehicle, 19-year-old Taylor Carnes of Xenia, Ohio, was taken by ambulance to Cumberland Medical Center, as was Barnwell.

Jenson and Barnwell’s vehicles were towed from the scene.
