THREE YEARS LATER: LOOKING BACK AT THE EF-1 TORNADO THAT STRUCK CROSSVILLE
It has now been three years since an EF-1 tornado struck Crossville on Sunday, June 11, 2023, as part of a severe weather event that brought three confirmed tornadoes to Middle Tennessee. Touching down at 4:59 p.m. CDT near the intersection of Highway 70N and Meadow Creek, the Crossville tornado carved a 1.6-mile path with a width of 50 yards and maximum winds of 95 mph before lifting just north of Interstate 40 at 5:03 p.m. CDT.
The storm caused notable property damage, completely sliding one house off its foundation, damaging several outbuildings, and leaving a hotel with minor roof damage. Despite the destruction in Crossville and the impacts of two other EF-1 tornadoes that hit nearby Fentress County that same afternoon and evening, the community looks back on the event with gratitude, as no injuries or fatalities were reported.
