TOOLS STOLEN FROM UNLOCKED STORAGE SHED IN SUSPECTED BREAK-IN IN CROSSVILLE
On February 5, 2026, Crossville Police Officer Matt Charlock responded to a reported burglary at a property where tools had been stolen from a small storage room located at the back of the premises, beneath a tenant’s home. The theft reportedly occurred sometime between 4:00 PM on February 4 and 12:15 PM on February 5.
The maintenance manager explained that another employee had worked the previous evening and stated that the single-lock doorknob door had been secured when he left. Upon examination, the officer found no visible signs of forced entry, such as damage to the door or frame.
Inside the room, the manager indicated the prior locations of the missing items, which included an 18-inch chainsaw valued at $250 and a gas-powered backpack leaf blower valued at $150, while pointing out remaining tools: two batteries and a charger near the door, a hedge trimmer valued at $170, and another hedge trimmer valued at $450.
The manager acknowledged it was possible the door had been left unlocked unintentionally but had no specific suspects in mind and noted that no recent terminations had occurred without keys being returned. No security cameras covered the area, and serial numbers for the stolen items were unavailable, preventing their entry into any stolen property database.
At the time of the report, no suspects had been identified, and it remained unclear whether entry was gained by force or otherwise.
