TORNADO TOUCHES DOWN IN SUNBRIGHT AND DEER LODGE; FATALITIES CONFIRMED

From Morgan County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency:

At approximately 8:27 pm, a possibe tornado touched down in the Deer Lodge and Sunbright areas of Morgan County, resulting in severe property damage, injuries, and loss of life.
Local, county, and state first responders, along with emergency personnel from multiple agencies and jurisdictions, are actively engaged in search and rescue operations and assessing individual safety.
An Emergency Operations Center has been established, with additional staging and safety locations, including Wartburg Central High School.
Power, phone, and internet communications have been impacted.
We have over 100 personnel deployed to identify and assist those in need. We urge everyone to avoid the affected area until the emergency is over.
We will provide updates as critical information becomes available.

Morgan County, TN – Unfortunately, the possible tornado weather event that occurred in the Deer Lodge and Sunbright areas of Morgan County has resulted in confirmed fatalities and injuries.
As of our latest update, we regret to confirm that 2 fatalities have occurred as a result of this event, 2 females; a mother and daughter from the same household. Additionally, 3 injuries have been reported.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those affected by this tragic event. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
The Morgan County Emergency Management Agency is working closely with local, state, and federal agencies to respond to this event and provide support to those affected.
