TRACK MAP OF MARCH 3, 2020 CUMBERLAND COUNTY TORNADO RELEASED

The National Weather Service released a track map yesterday of a EF-0 tornado that hit northern Cumberland County in the early morning hours of March 3, 2020.

The tornado struck just after it crossed over Highway 127 south of Rinnie heading northeast. The tornado then took a east-southeast heading as it went towards Catoosa Wildlife Management. The damage path ranged up to a couple hundred yards wide at one point. Damage was reported in several areas from the tornado packing winds of around 85 miles per hour. The tornado lifted into the air before crossing the Cumberland/Morgan County line then touched down again in western Morgan County for a brief time. No injuries were reported.

The tornado that touched down in Cumberland County was one of eight tornadoes in Tennessee from midnight to 3 a.m. central time March 3, 2020. At least 25 people died in the tornadoes (18 in Putnam County alone) and over 200 injured in the state.
